The Store Atmosphere of the item shop Recettear impacts the type of customers who will visit Recette's shop. Some characters are more likely to appear under a certain atmosphere, and a few will only appear under a certain atmosphere.

Mechanics Edit

Talking to Tear while in the shop allows Recette to see the atmosphere of the shop at any time.

Tear measures the shop based on various factors.

Research suggests it is best to aim at the center of the chart to maximize all types of customers at once. Values in the extremes of the chart make fewer clients appear in the shop.

Changes by Decoration Edit

Atmosphere is calculated on two axis, which this wiki will refer to as Gaudiness and Lightness. The display for each axis is capped at 13 in either direction, but the actual values go much higher. From here, values will be listed in the form [+xG/+yL]. At [0G/0L] Recette's head is still offset from the center of the crosshairs however (see the screenshot at the top of this article):

Even with neutral decorations and no items, the store's base plainness seems to change every so often, ranging from Neutral to [-5G/0L]. How, when, and why these changes occur is currently unknown.

Store decorations which can be purchased from the Market will affect the Store Atmosphere.

Replacing a table with a Vender will affect your atmosphere, however, due to a bug, your atmosphere will not update until you change your decorations or display items. Note that items within a vender do not contribute toward the store atmosphere, just the vender itself.

Atmosphere Pull By DecorationEdit

The chart below matches the actual chart in the game--with Gaudy to the left, Plain to the right, Light up top, and Dark at the bottom. Italicized items are not available at the store, they must either be crafted through Fusion, or purchased from Euria.

Walls are red, Floors are green, Tables are blue, Carpets are black.
Fancy, Checkered, and Heretical are multi-colored because the items within the sets have identical pulls (and the chart is already really big without making it fatter with extra rows).

This should be a handy reference for what to put up when you want to pull your chart in one direction or another--but don't forget, when you're comparing, to take into account the the item you're replacing!

Character appearances Edit

Although some characters may appear more frequently under a certain atmosphere, it is ultimately random. It is not possible to completely prevent a certain character from appearing in the shop.

Also, some appearances are limited to certain cycles. Griff, for example, will have random appearances only at the two late cycles: evening and night.

There are some exceptions that make characters appear regardless of atmosphere and cycle of the day: Certain events will force the appearance of a character, and characters that have an order to retrieve will appear the first time you open the shop on the appointed day, or - if you don't open the shop on that day - the first time you open after you miss their orders.

Up: The more the chart moves towards this value, the more the character appears.
Down: The more the chart moves towards this value, the less the character appears.
Never: With this value in this side of the chart the character appears only during the exceptions listed above.
Same : Values moving towards this value do no seem to affect how often the character appears.
